# Add Auth to Gateway Proxy

I have enabled the proxy on the gateway by placing

`wrapper.java.additional.10=-Dvision.urlproxy.enabled=true`

In my `ignition.conf` file.

Is it possible to add some sort of authentication (even just http basic) to this built in proxy?

Thats fine, we will just set up our own proxy with auth.

That’s what we’d prefer. The feature was only disabled by default rather than removed as a backwards compatibility escape hatch.
