# Add custom property value to XY Chart tooltip text

I am trying to format the tooltip text so that I can add a dynamic text value that is setup in the Custom properties. Currently the tooltip text only shows the Y value.

Use an expression binding to get the `timeUnit` value and concatenate it into your string.

expression:

```python
'{name}: [bold]{valueY} ' + {this.custom.timeUnit} + '[/]' 

```

Thanks, this worked. I had tried the expression method previously, but must not have had the formatting correct.
