Me faltará configurar algo?

GIF is not a normal image format to be used in Ignition, can you just use an image converter to convert it to a PNG or JPEG?

> Images such as PNGs, JPGs, GIFs, and SVGs can be uploaded in the Image Management Tool and used inside of Vision or Perspective. ([Ignition 8 Deployment Best Practices | Ignition User Manual](https://www.docs.inductiveautomation.com/docs/8.1/tutorials/ignition-8-deployment-best-practices#images))

It works for me.

Can you upload a problem GIF here so we can have a look?

OK. Here's an example.

</div>

The GIF is OK, but it's \> 2 MB.
If I drag and drop it onto a view with "embed" I get the warning message:

 ![Gif too big](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/inductiveautomation/original/3X/5/b/5b2248a0946ef007fa914c88524497e144f35a8f.png)
The image then fails to display.

So, to add a GIF image to Ignition Vision, it can't be just any image. You have to verify that it's equal to or less than 100kb. In Perspective, it's different; you can do it there, right?

I assumed you were using Perspective. (You need to select the `vision` or `perspective` tag below your question title.)
Perspective didn't like it either!

I want to apply the GIF image in Vision, as I did to add it in Perspective and it works fine.

In Vision, it's possible that a memory adjustment will be needed to display larger images.
.
In the designer:
• Click on the _Project_ dropdown
• Select _Project Properties_
• In the resultant popup window, select _Launching_ under the Vision category of the side bar
• Adjust the _Initial_ and _Maximum_ Client Memory parameters.

Should I leave the value of these parameters at the maximum?

I don't know; how good are your client computers? Test on your slowest one and see if there are negative side effects.

Coloque ambos parámetros al máximo y tampoco me deja agregar imágenes tipo GIF. Me podrías compartir una imagen más liviana para probar?

Looking at the fan gif you uploaded, it does seem to be quite a bit bigger than it needs to be. I was able to produce the same effect with 8 frames as the original gif that had 75 frames. The result is a 298 KB file instead of the original 2.04 MB:

![Ventilator](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/inductiveautomation/original/3X/9/c/9c12e3f899ba8020d8444598a5ab39a4758a7677.gif)

...but to be honest, I don't use the image component for generic HMI graphics. If I find an image that I want to use for depicting something reusable like a fan, motor, or tank, I'll convert the image to an SVG. The SVG can be dragged and dropped right into the designer and subsequently templatized for broader use. For me, the main advantage of this approach is that SVG's don't have the awkward loading and resizing latencies that come with rendering images, so they produce a more natural user experience for the client.

For animations, I simply develop my own in the paintable canvas, and I often drive them with a timer component. The canvas seems to be more efficient than the image component, and the canvas also loads and resizes naturally without the reloading weirdness.
