Hi everyone,

I'm working in Perspective V8.3+ and would like to display the latest alarm event/status in a banner or ticker-style component.

The goal is to always show the most recent alarm, including information such as:

- Alarm Name
- Equipment/Source
- Priority
- Current state (Active, Cleared, Acknowledged)
- Event timestamp

I plan on using the Alarm Journal component on its own page but I want to show in the header on on every page page what the most recent alarm is a second option would be to have it as a full blown ticker like a stock market ticker where are alarms are streamed across it.

I'm a bit at a loss on where to start to do something like this code wise. I understand how to dive down to an individual alarm on a static tag but making it generic or pull the latest I'm at a loss.

Thanks

You'd have to use system.alarm.querystatus constantly. Which would be ugly. I'd stick with something simpler like just showing the count of Active Unack'ed alarms or such. Witch in 8.3 you can get from the [default]AlarmMetrics object

Interesting, I was looking through the tags available and I see an [System]Gateway/Alarming/Alarm Metrics.highestActiveName but it just shows Null even though i have multiple alarms of all levels active. Is this just not used?

That is only going to give you that information in that folder. That's why you need to look at the `Alarm Metrics` system-generated tag in the actual folder of interest.

As Phil said, the Alarm Metrics is just an automated roll-up of alarms from that folder and deeper.
