Hello,

What is the general opinion on the best option for creating interactive charts in Ignition?

I’m currently using **Plotly**. It offers plenty of chart types and flexibility, and I find it easy to configure through a single script transform.

I’ve also just read about **Embr-Charts v3.0.0** , and it looks quite good too.

I have used **Perspective’s built-in charts** as well. They offer many options, but I find them harder to set up—especially when trying to keep the configuration in a single script transform.

What is the general approach to using chart modules in Ignition? Which option do you normally prefer?

Cheers

I usually visit this app and checking which looks best for my scenario [Perspective](https://onlinedemo.inductiveautomation.com/data/perspective/client/samplequickstart/components/charts/chart-range-selector)

It really depends on actual usage. It's different for faceplate or for full screen page or for an overview page with multiple charts. All of them have pros and cons, you will find a lot about them here on the forum as well.

Will try, I guess is the same as Plotly, you just get the module, restart ignition and drag and drop the Embr components into the screen.

I use exclusively use Embr Charts.... unsurprisingly 😉

Be sure to download the latest version for your Ignition platform from [GitHub Releases](https://github.com/mussonindustrial/embr/releases).
It's updated pretty frequently, so `3.0.0` is actually quite old.

What really sets Embr Charts apart is its client-side JavaScript capabilities; these combine with Periscope to allow for some really cool interactive uses that are not possible with other charting modules (that I have seen, at least).

This doesn't solve anyone's problem today, but adding more Perspective charting options is a focus of our [upcoming 2027 release](https://pages.inductiveautomation.com/ignition-2027#:~:text=More%20Design%20Power%20in%20Perspective).

Update: that link isn't scrolling to the relevant section like it should be, but if you scroll down through the highlights, you can find the Perspective charting section.

Notice how it says “2024” at the start of build number 😬

The latest Embr Charts version that will work on your gateway should be 6.0.0, available in this release set:
