Hi Connection,
1, **Is there possible to connect CAN protocol to Ignition Gateway?**
2. **it possible to read CAN data if we use CAN to ethernet converter?**

Thanks For the Advance
Adarsh 👋 ✨

No, Ignition doesn't understand CAN at all.

Due to typical CAN bus pacing, I'd use a high-speed protocol like class 1 EtherNet/IP (with my 3rd party driver) with a suitably configured gateway.

I've handled J1939 on CAN in this manner with the ADFweb product (who added some firmware features for me) here:

They have other CAN support, which I would expect to be equally good.

(There are many options from big players, too, but I doubt you could get them customized.)

Perhaps @christofer.dutz with plc4x would be able in future to add a driver for CAN protocol do ignition:

Yeah ... even if I haven't tried it, Lukasz just recently updated that driver quite a bit. Maybe I should get a can-device so I can play around with it a bit.

But in general: I think the Igntion community would probably highly welcome an Igntion Apache PLC4X module. Only problem I see, is that nobody's willing to finance any work on it and I have to do it in my free time.

Long time ago, for Ignition 7.6, I remenber I had created a basic driver based on this device for CAN RAW communications

They provided some Java bindings (based on PCANBasic.dll, PCANBasic\_JNI.dll)

Interested to know if anyone has used the PEAK system on a CAN FD bus.

Check out Beckhoff's CX7050 (Master) and CX7051 (Slave) devices. As per any other device there will be some config. Ignition should be able to connect via OPCUA.

Has anyone tried to use this one via OPC-UA? [Gateway / Bridge J1939 / OPC UA](https://www.adfweb.com/Home/products/J1939_OPCua.asp?frompg=nav9_32)
