Hello Team, I need assistance with the architecture for the following requirement.

We need to connect the customer's approximately 23 PLC and 15 Modbus TCP devices to the ignition in order to monitor and control them.

We have requested to host the ignition on Azure cloud.

As I have very limited knowledge about the cloud system and ignition architecture, the following queries are listed ( Basic):

1. Out of 23 PLC , 20 are Allen Bradley and 3 are Siemens PLC’s . How to connect these PLC’s to ignition in the cloud ?

2. Is it safe to use cloud based system to control the plant operation ? In our case system is not much critical , however I would like to know is it safe or not ?.

3. What are components need to use in the ignition architecture ?

4. Is there any document reference for similar kind of requirement ?

You're going to need something on-site, on the same network as the PLCs, to do the polling. Whether that's another Ignition you connect via gateway network, or some edge devices that publish to MQTT, depends on your needs. Polling PLCs from the cloud will perform absolutely terribly.

Talk to our sales engineers about architectures, they're good at this stuff.

Let me emphasize this. By "_terribly_", think **10x** or **20x** worse than local.
