I was told that this would be an IBM DB2 database connection but I cant connect without a 3rd party approved application. Has anyone made this connection and polled any data from SAP? I am not sure where to start.

You really need to speak to those whole are managing your SAP environment. If you are running SAP say on MS SQL Server and your Ignition is running on MS SQL Server as well connecting between the two should not be that difficult. However if the 2 systems are running on different database engines you’ll need to research how those 2 engines can connect to each other. Of course you could also look into creating export jobs in your Ignition environment that would extract the data necessary and then importing that data into SAP.
