Hi, I'm trying to connect a UPS to my Ignition project so I can monitor its status (like online/offline, battery level, etc.). I'm using an **APC UPS** and I downloaded the **"APC UPS Modbus Interface"** from the Ignition Exchange, but I’m not sure how to set it up in the Gateway.

Can anyone help me with the steps to connect the UPS to Ignition?
Do I need to use **Modbus TCP** , or is there a better way?

Thanks!

I am really trying to create a simple UPS project that tells me the IP, if the UPS is up or down and that's really it, I just need a little help.

Did some quick search and from this [link](https://download.schneider-electric.com/files?p_Doc_Ref=SPD_MPAO-98KJ7F_EN&p_enDocType=Application+Notes&p_File_Name=Modbus_Implementation_in_APC_Smart-UPS_v12.pdf) it looks like its rs-232. so you will need a serial cable or usb cable connected to the gateway, unless you have bought a network interface card that supports modbus tcp. If there is no serial port the usb might show up as a serial port.

Also inside the ignition exchange project, in the others folder, is a readme\_install\_text file with a lot information about the different configurations around the ups itself and what is needed.
