Two years ago I attempted Ignition on a Mac Mini. It seemed like a perfect fit for my purposes and all the sales fluff said it would work great. Long story short, it did not. After many calls to tech support they finally said "Yeah, the Mac isn't really supported all that well yet. It 'can' do some things just fine but depending on what you want it may not work. And, not many of us know much about it."

So, does anyone have an installation working great on a Mac yet? I would love to hear about it.

Should work fine as long as you have a modern Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later).

Probably more than half the IA devs use a Mac.

The idea of _deploying_ a _production_ Gateway on a Mac is odd, but running the Designer or Designer and Gateway is fine for development.

Why is a production Mac odd if it's ok to develope with?

I have a functioning setup on a newer (M chip) MacBook: Maker edition, second Docker gateway instance (also Maker), multiple Docker databases, iOS Perspective app for home-automation stuff etc. For what it's worth, I haven't had any major issues, even when upgrading from 8.1 to 8.3.

What would you even deploy on? On a headless Mac Mini on a shelf somewhere?

It’s just not really done in prod.
