# Deadlock Detected

I get a message with Deadlock Detected and need restart the gateway, the ignition version is 7.9.6. Thread dump attached. anybody knows about this? the system has already run years. only replaced a new gateway and restored the backup.

That is a bug. (Deadlocks are always bugs.) You should upgrade. However, you don't provide enough information to know which known deadlock this might be, but I would recommend upgrading all the way to the v8.1 series. (v7.9 is EOL.)

Is the upgrade free or we need to order new modules? This deadlock comes up every 4 or 5 days.

You can upgrade within the 7.9 release series for free. I’d suggest you do that.
