I have a few gateways that are active, but disabled the device connections on those I am not using.
If I select Read Only mode in the designer, and enable device connections, are the project’s tag writes in the gateway scripts going to write to my devices?
Does Read Only apply to gateway automatic executions of system.tag.write?

If you have gateway scripts that perform writes then they will continue to write. Read mode does not prevent this from happening. The writes that would be prevented would be if you were trying to write directly to a SQLTag in the SQLTags Browser or if you where trying to write to a tag from a component or with scripting.

Is there anyway there could be an option in the device configuration to be read only. I think this would be the easiest fix for what I’m trying to do.

For the device connection no, but you can set the tags to read only. You could do this as a bulk edit. Or, export the tags, edit the Access Rights to Read Only, import.
