# Edge client session exceeded limit

Hi,

We have an edge gateway that won’t allow us to open any clients  
In the gateway overview I can see that there are no open clients.  
Is there something I am missing?

I guess my first question is do you have Edge Panel edition licensed? If so, try turning the Perspective.LicenseState logger to trace and see if anything helpful appears.

I’m just starting out with Ignition Edge. I was getting this error when I tried to launch a Perspective project and found that the fix was to go into the

Config-\>Gateway Settings-\>

and then under “Edge Settings” select PERSPECTIVE and the Visualization Module.

The error seemed really odd until I came across this. I suppose it’s saying, "If you have VISION set as your visualization module you can’t have more than 0 PERSPECTIVE projects…

Hope this helps someone with my same problem.
