Hello Expert,
I am writing an expression for alarm binding.
My expression is as below:

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/inductiveautomation/original/3X/9/9/99ac8d029b8cfeccde32af27e194b1ba391ba295.png)

This expression returns a dataset with [5R, 1C]

I wanted to extract the value of 1st row and wanted to display it into the one of the associated data property as shown below:

But i am not able to extract the required data. How i can achieve this?

This should be enough to extract the first part of the path:

```python
split({fullItemPath}, '/')[0]
```

If it doesn't work, you'll have to show us what goes wrong.

</div>

**fullItemPath** : NewProvider\_SJP/Legrand\_India/Jalgaon/Mould\_Shop/Arburg 2/Phase1\_Voltage

With expression: split({fullItemPath}, "/")[0]
output: NewProvider\_SJP

With expression: split({fullItemPath}, "/")[1]
output(Blank):

I also wanted to extract other strings.

You need both row and column. If you put only one, the row defaults to 0.

```python
split({fullItemPath}, "/")[1, 0]
```

> \> `Legrand_India`
