# Gateway locks up when bulk removing/adding tags to project?

New to ignition and running into a problem with bulk editing tags.

We have ~800k tags on a dev server where people were just importing multiple PLCs Controller:Global tag structure from the OPC browser. I consolidated these down into ~5k tags per plc and I'm trying to remove the extras in designer without creating a new project but the gateway locks up if I delete more than ~1k tags at a time. After it locks up I have to restart the gateway which then discards any changes that have been made to the tags so I'm back where I started.

Anyone know a good way to reset the tags in a project?
