I found out that I actually can scan an ISO-14443-3A tag.
The tag I was trying to scan didn't have anything written to it yet.
After writing some data to the tag, the perspective app is able to scan the tag.

Hi!
Is there any progress on this one?
It would help a lot if the perspective app could read the card number an not only data that could be written by anyone to the card.

Hi @erik.forsgren

The next mobile release will include a batch of NFC improvements and supported formats and payloads. No ETA at the moment, but its on our radar for the next mobile app release.

Hi! We tested this with the Perspective App updated in the beginning of April and we cannot read the card number. Is this still on the radar? Thank you!

Yes its still on the radar, we pruned some of the NFC tickets from this targeted release due to bandwidth while we are all working on 8.3 stuff. a lot of the NFC tickets were rescheduled to mobile app version 1.0.9. As always, these timeframes are vulnerable to reprioritization, but NFC improvements are still high on the list.

We're extending our animal feed project with mobile, and NFC is high on our wish list. Hopping this gets rolled sooner rather then later.

Keep up the good work!

Are you specifically looking for tag types which are not NDEF? the most requested which will be the first to be added are ISO-14443-4 and ISO-15693. We aren't intentionally limiting the others and more may come through as part of this first push depending on the support within each mobile OS.

First of all, sorry for the delay!

Right now we are using tags ISO 14443-3A on our currents setups. We are also not closed to changing that, but that's the tags that are currently using.

Hello,

Out of curiosity, Is there any preview on a release for this? We're trying to plan when and if we will include NFC in our systems, and would be interesting to have some preview.

Thank you.

No there is no preview or early access builds of the mobile apps.

This feature is currently targeted for the next release, but we have all been in very active development for the Ignition 8.3 changes and will continue to be until its release. Because of this there isn't a firm timetable for the mobile 1.0.9 release at the moment.

If 8.3 will be released beginning 2025 supporting ISO-14443-4 and ISO-15693 might be supported at then end of next year?
We are currently investigating of implementing a tool management system for CNC tools which have a NFC tag present in the holder.

The documentation [Scan Ndef NFC Action](https://www.docs.inductiveautomation.com/docs/8.1/ignition-modules/perspective/working-with-perspective-components/component-events-and-actions#scan-ndef-nfc-action) does not mention what kind of NFC is supported using the NFC scanner of IOS/Android.
Does the user get a haptic feedback when a NFC tag is scanned?

I have created a workaroud using android for getting the NFC scanner working.
Using NFC Tools I have created a workaroud using android for getting the NFC scanner working.
Using NFC Tools & NFC Tasks I am able to program an NFC with a HTTP REST action which can be automatically perform upon aproaching the NFC.
The HTTP action requires NFC Tools Pro, and can send device/tag info like IMEI, IP, TAGID.
Using the WebDev module I can process the input and link it to the current user.

I can share the entire story in a later stage, I have done a few test on my personal device for checking the possibilities.
Tomorrow I will try to finish the POC with a company owned device.

Hello,

Not clear for me what ISO are impacted for iOS and/or Android.
Is there a summary somewhere? Is it working for Android ?

NFC is a very important milestone for our projects.

Thank you.

The perspective app does not support NFC at this moment and there is no timetable when and what exactly will be supported at this moment.

That's the reason I looked for a workaround: NFC tools & Task. (Pro is required for creating HTTP REST tasks)
It requires that you can write a task on the NFC (task, I got it working with 106 bytes), WebDev (API) for handling the NFC to a Tag/DB.

Thanks for taking the time to answer!
Will wait on a fixed release as your workaround requiert good programming skills.
