# Help! Can't get into the designer

I locked myself out of the designer. My username and password don’t work when I follow my desktop link to open the designer. I can’t even get to the configuration website anymore. How can I backup my projects before I need to reinstall?

Hello,

You don’t need to reinstall! In the Inductive Automation / FactoryPMI folder in your Start menu, you will find a small utility application called “Monitor FPMI Gateway”. This application communicates with FPMI Gateway services that are running on the same machine that it is running on. At the bottom of that application you will find a list of “Configuration Actions”. One of them is “Reset Password”. Choose this and run it, and your Gateway’s password will be reset to the default: admin/password
