# How can I create a row in SQL with data through a button on the screen

How can I create a row in SQL with data through a button on the screen?

I highly recommend going through [Browse the Lesson Library at Inductive University](https://inductiveuniversity.com/courses/whats-new-in-ignition-8/8.0) to learn all of that and more. Specifically either the vision videos or perspective videos depending on what sort of project you are making though some pre-requisite SQL knowledge will be required.

The SQL In Ignition videos also contain information regarding how to run SQL from an Ignition project - might want to start there.

In the meantime, look at [Named Queries](https://docs.inductiveautomation.com/display/DOC81/Named+Queries) and [system.db.runNamedQuery](https://docs.inductiveautomation.com/display/DOC81/system.db.runNamedQuery).
