Hi all,

Last week I finished the testing of my Ignition Beckhoff ADS module and wanted to start selling licenses for this and therefore added the Module showcase page for it ... It's however remaining "unapproved"... How long does this usually take for IA to approve? Or am I missing something that you folks are waiting for?

Chris

I'm not speaking as somebody involved in approving or handling this process; I think it's probably sales engineering that is responsible.

That said, it doesn't seem that your website is meeting all the requirements:

> What do I need to include on my website about my module?
>
> In order to qualify for a listing on the Module Showcase, your website must include the following:
>
> - Module Name
> - Description of module
> - Version(s) compatibility with Ignition platform
> - Cost
> - Download link for users to try out your module
> - A way for users to purchase the module from your company (if applicable) \*\*What do I need to include on my website about my module?

from [Inductive Automation: moduleshowcase\_faq](https://inductiveautomation.com/moduleshowcase/faq)

You need to have a link to download the module and an upfront price, no "email me" stuff.

Hmmm ... Ok ... well I thought I had the price and stuff such as the version compatability on the module-showcase page. By adding it to the product page at least I can put the € price and not the odd USD price 😉

I'll try and setup something where people can download directly. My only issue is that I wanted people to accept a no warranty disclaimer when using the trial. How do others solve this?

Was just sort of expecting some sort of feedback like "you're not meeting the requirements" ... but thanks for the info.

I think modules can include a EULA somehow? I’ll have to look.

I’ll ask somebody in sales engineering tomorrow about the process. It was a busy week and a holiday on Friday into a long weekend, wouldn’t be surprised if they just haven’t had time.

Thanks 🙂 That would help a lot 🙂

Hi all,

I have my license texts created by a lawyer, but these only handle the sales ... there obviously I'm not excluding liability and warranty. But for a beta-test I would definitely want to exclude this. So how do others handle this? @pturmel ? Do you have one EULA that handles both cases (licensed and trial?) or do you include the trial EULA and add a commercial version when selling?

You can supply an HTML license file. End users are shown this license when installing, and have to accept to continue.

In my experience, you have to manually reach out to Sales Engineering. Applying from the module showcase portal doesn’t seem to notify anyone (at least in an _actionable_ way 🤷🏻‍♂️ )

That seems the most straightforward, anything else seems overcomplicated.

It wouldn't have occurred to me to have separate ones, as the same module file does both trial and licensed, if you are cooperating with IA's native two hour trial mode (and you should). It is the install of the module, not adding the licenses, that prompts display of the EULA.

The EULA is also the best place to announce the included open source library license fragments, to satisfy BSD/MIT/Apache license clauses. Those have to be announced whether trial or licensed, too.

Hi all,

Well I guess for me Ignition is just one target platform. So the legal documents I had create don't initially focus on that. But I guess I'll have my texts evolve to some standard EULA so I can also use them in other modules for other drivers and other platforms.

I talked to SE, you should reach out directly, probably to the same person who helped you get your account set up. From there SE will do a technical review of the module and a marketing review of your website.

Hi Kevin,

I think I'll whip up an EULA and License agreement for usage on my site that covers Trial + Perpetual Licens and Support ... Also need to setup my online shop ... don't want to deal with all the manual paperwork my sales currently take.

I'll contact them once I have everything setup and ready to go.

Yay ... I'm listed ... found out earlier today when the "approved" button was suddenly checked 🙂

Thanks folks and I'll do my best to simplify the test and purchase experience with a universal eula.

The main issue is that we're a German company and German law is all about fairness ... so the usual "use as iss" and "no warranty" clauses are considered illegal because they give the customers almost no rights. However getting this warranty and liability stuff right was tricky in my beta-test contracts and the license contracts ... having one mixed one adds a load of complexities.
