# How to prevent data in current tags being overwritten when import tags with event script changes

Currently i am importing tags to ignition using Merge Overwrite option. However, this will overwrite my existing data (which could update dynamically). How can i prevent overwriting and at the same time ensure the tag changes are imported to my project?

You could remove the value keys from your tag json before merging? However, this would only really affect memory tags. OPC tags shouldn’t normally have a value key
