Hello everyone,

I am using Ignition version 8.3 and the Symbolic Driver to communicate with a Siemens PLC.
After adding new tags in the PLC, these tags do not appear in Ignition, and the existing tags in the block where I added the new tags start showing errors.

The only way I can make the new tags available is to disable and enable the device in Ignition.
I also tried restarting the tags, but that didn’t solve the problem.

Is there a proper method to refresh the tags or update the tag list without disabling/enabling the device?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Known issue. Apparently, the S7+ protocol doesn't include any indicators to an external tag consumer that tags/structures have changed. (Unlike Logix, which does have such indicators.)

Disable + enable causes the device to be re-scanned for its tags and structures.

IIRC, a gateway UI + API function is planned to command a rescan ~~, but is not expected to make 8.3.0~~.

The UI option Phil is referring to should be available in the 8.3.0 RC1. In the context menu for your device connection on the gateway, you should see an option for "Refresh Browse Cache" or "Invalidate Browse Cache". I'll send a screenshot when I get back to a gateway.

The option is Refresh Browse in the Release Candidate.
