# Ignition 8.3 designer launcher

We have 2 existing Ignition 8.1 gateways.  
On another server, we set up the 8.3 beta version.  
When adding the designer for that gateway to the designer launcher, we can only open the designer on the beta version if updating the launcher to version 8.3.  
If we do so, can we still launch 8.1 designers?

Yes, but with some complications if the 8.1 versions are older than 8.1.34.
