I see from Carl and Colby’s [latest blog article](https://inductiveautomation.com/blog/the-real-deal-about-java-and-the-future-ignition?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsdTn87jE2wIViobACh1vdgJ-EAAYASAAEgJAdvD_BwEhttps://inductiveautomation.com/blog/the-real-deal-about-java-and-the-future-ignition?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsdTn87jE2wIViobACh1vdgJ-EAAYASAAEgJAdvD_BwE), that Ignition 8 will have Java embedded, rather than having to be installed separately on each client machine. I’m curious about how this might work. Will launching a client on a machine without Java first download a JRE installer and run that, though I imagine it’s nothing that crude.

This will be a very useful feature if it meant not having to install and maintain Java on umpteen client machines.

We had a discussion with IA about this.
From what I remember the clients will have an embedded version of Java that only includes the libraries that will be utilized by the client.
IA will leverage [jlink](https://docs.oracle.com/javase/9/tools/jlink.htm#JSWOR-GUID-CECAC52B-CFEE-46CB-8166-F17A8E9280E9) to do this.
I’m sure someone from IA can elaborate more on this.
