# Ignition Edge connection to pull data from Oracle DB

Is Ignition Edge capable of connecting to oracle DB? I want to pull data from an oracle DB into ignition edge, but I am unsure if it's possible with an Edge license or if I would need a regular ignition license?

Ignition Edge is explicitly forbidden connection to **any** kind of database. That is the key feature that was removed to justify the dramatically reduced price.

Use Ignition Standard edition.

If we have a hub and spoke architecture, would it be possible to pull the data from oracle into the main standard ignition and push it to edge gateway? Or would this not be a good practice?

It is _possible_, with gateway network messaging, or tag writes from central.

A bad practice in most cases, IMNSHO. Share more about your requirements.
