# Leased Tag Groups

Hello everyone,  
I was going through the Ignition docs for **Leased Tag Groups** , and I noticed two statements

1. “If the Client is closed, the tags will not poll at all.”
2. “If all Clients are closed, both tags execute using the Rate value.”

From my understanding, leased tags don’t completely stop polling — they simply revert to the base Rate (for example, 10 seconds), and only poll faster (Leased Rate, e.g. 1 second) when the tag is visible in a client or designer.

Could someone please confirm if this interpretation is correct?  
Should the first statement be read as “tags won’t poll at the **Leased rate** when clients are closed,” rather than “won’t poll at all”?

Your interpretation is correct, unleased tags run at the slow rate.

I suspect someone in the docs group has been misled by the common practice of setting the slow rate to **zero** , which does stop polling when unleased. You should email the docs group to get this addressed.
