I am preparing to migrate an Ignition system from a desktop PC, to a rack mount PC is a safer environment. I believe I am almost ready to do this, I am just unsure about the database aspect. The gateway is configured to use the local PostgresSQL database running on port 5432 as the SQL Server. I do not know how to back this up an migrate it, or if it is required as I do not believe this is captured in a gateway backup.

It is not captured in a gateway backup. Your database should not be running on the same server as the gateway, in production. Get **two** rackmount PCs, or set up a beefy hypervisor to run separate VMs (well isolated, not overcommitted).

You will need to use PostgreSQL native backup and restore tools to move the content to a new server.
