**OpenBridge HMI framework for Ignition is now public**
We've been working on our Ignition module for a while, and today it's ready for distribution. You can test it at. [https://www.openstudio.no/](https://www.openstudio.no/), and there's a demo at [https://demo.openstudio.no/](https://demo.openstudio.no/).

OpenBridge is an open source HMI standard that has an extensive modern UI library for industrial applications. A few pilot partners have already been using it in their projects, and now we want to hear from more of you. Critique is very welcome, whether it's in the chat, a PM or a Teams meeting.

Most components are stable. Some are still marked beta and may change, but if we need to make breaking changes, there will be a deprecation period first. The exception is the connector diagram. It's still under development, so expect breaking changes there until we're happy with it.

Try it out and tell us what would make it better!

The framework is built on the OpenBridge open source code library and include a very large number of consistently designed UI components and symbols covering a wast range of systems. See the library is in continuous development and can be seen here.: [storybook - Storybook](https://openbridge-next-storybook.web.app/?path=/docs/automation-tanks-tank--docs)

Map view with the alarm dot is pretty cool. Haven't seen that before. Very nice approach to adapting typical P&ID diagrams (which have always been too large for a single screen) in a user friendly, intuitive way on a single screen.

Color selector and toggle is cool. Can it be made to be user-configurable? (i.e. click on the square to choose the color)

Thank you for the feedback. We chose to demonstrate that capability based on feedback we received from early testers of the plugin. The system can render traditional P&IDs as well. We will continue developing more examples in the future. We believe there are a lot of ways we can improve these interfaces.

The demo is only meant as an example of what you can do when you have access to the entire OpenBridge library using the plugin. The idea is to provide a well designed framework where all components are designed according to the same interaction and aesthetic philosophy, based on an open standard. www.openbridge.no

Regarding users selecting colors, it is absolutely possible. However, we advice caution when allowing the free use of colors, as it might conflict with standards and create legibility concerns. It ultimately depends on the specific use case. 🙂

It seems this plugin is something that you're trying to sell as a third party? Is it a module?

If so, it would be beneficial to see exactly how the module is used in the designer. Possibly a video demo showcasing creation of some of these things or screenshots for select components since a video may become outdated as things are updated.

@torstein.bo can explain the specifics of the plugin. He is responsible for development.
And you are absolutely right about the documentation. We will release more material and documentation as we move on. We prioritized getting it out to early testers we are collaborating with. So consider this a soft release. 🙂

The full plugin is available as a trial, so it is possible to play around with it at no cost.

The content is based on this ope source library that we also develop. [storybook - Storybook](https://openbridge-next-storybook.web.app/?path=/docs/automation-tanks-tank--docs)
It is about 160 components I think, and most of them are highly flexible with free scaling, alert states and more. In many cases the components also include limits and advice inbuilt.

It is originally built as a vendor agnostic framework allowing consistent design across companies. It is in extensive use in the maritime industry, but we think it might be useful in other verticals as well.
