# NullPointerException using getSelectedPaths()

Hi Guys,

We use getSelectedPaths function in our project but in some situations the function thrown java NullPointerException error  
We use the tree view component in our project, as an special feature we want to display some options when a “folder” (not a node) is selected, in order to do that we have an script that use getSelectedPaths to know the folder’s name when the selectedItem is -1.  
This is the part of the code where the error happens:

The error says that the problem occurs where the code calls event.source.getSelectedPaths()[0]

The process works fine but randomly we get a java NullPointerException error fired by getSelectedPaths function. The error always happens when a “folder” is clicked but never when a node is.
