# OPC DA Server Connected But Tag Values Uncertain Initial Value

Hi

I’m trying to connect to an old OPC DCOM server that is gateway that connects to some old PLC equipment. The issue I have is that after setting up the OPC connection the status is “connected” and i can browse all the tags but they are not reading any value, and the status is “Uncertain\_InitialValue” I have gone through the troubleshooting guide in the manual for OPC DCOM settings and nothing worked, I have also tried all the combinations in the connection setup and still no joy. Finally I’ve installed Kepware and it reads the tags fine and when i set up a connection to Kepware I can read the tags using it as a go-between. This is not an Ideal situation as i would like to read the tags direct. Any help on this would be great.
