I installed 8.3 and noticed Perspective is missing in the Project Browser. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it is still missing. Could you confirm that the Perspective module is showing as installed on the Gateway webpage? If it is, then can you open the designer console and check for any errors? Edit: You could also start with checking the designer console since you're already there. ---

Can you attach the rest of that log output? The more meaningful log message is probably "Failed to start Browser Engine" and whatever comes after it. ---

What version of Windows are you using? Any AV software or Windows Defender running? If it's not an unsupported OS then AV software preventing the Chromium process from being started is often the cause. ---

Windows 11. I had a later version of 8.1 installed with no issues, this PC is where I do the bulk of my development. ---

You can try deleting the cache dir in that path and launching again. JXBrowser / Chromium was upgraded in 8.3, so it's a new executable/signature that may be an issue for the AV software. ---

I also suspect that something on your machine is preventing the chromium process from running, probably AV. you can try adding `-Dignition.client.jxBrowser.logLevel=DEBUG` to the [JVM Arguments in the Designer Launcher](https://docs.inductiveautomation.com/docs/8.1/launchers-and-workstation/designer-launcher#designer-general-settings) which should result in more output, however i don't know how much in this scenario as we are dependent on JxBrowser logging for this. I would definitely look into your AV or security policies related to chromium though ---

I had the issue as well and I downloaded the designer using the new gateway (multiple times). After looking for a few hours I tried downloading the designer from the inductive website and guess what. there was perspective again. So I don’t know why but it appears installing the designer/upgrading the designer works better straight from the inductive website. ---

The Designer _Launcher_ you download from a given gateway doesn't actually hold anything related to the actual Designer application. Every time you launch the Designer _via_ the Designer Launcher, you're launching a separate application that is attached/coupled to the specific gateway you're connecting to. Whatever happened to make your system work was not related to upgrading/installing a new designer launcher, guaranteed. ---

Thank you for your reply paul-griffith. I had the same issue on two systems with the same solution to both systems. So sommething must have gotten across with the install from the inductive website. I can’t tell you what happened only what I did and that it fixed the issue. ---

I had the same problem, but now it seems it has been resolved, although I'm not sure if it was thanks to something I did. When I opened Designer for the first time after installing it (Windows 11) from the gateway wizard, it opened directly without loading any projects. At that point, I saw that the Perspective module did not appear in the project tree, even though it was installed. After closing Designer and reopening it with the “samplequickstart” project, the Perspective module appeared in the tree. I then created a new empty project with all the default paths, and the Perspective module still appeared, so it seems that this solves the problem. I hope this helps you resolve the issue. ---

I had the same issue with version 8.3.2 on W11 - downloading the Designer Launcher from the IA site also fixed it for me. ---
