# Reporting Plus: browser-based reports and dashboards for Ignition 8.3

Hi all,

We've released **Reporting Plus** , a third-party module for Ignition 8.3 that adds an interactive report and dashboard builder. You design reports in a browser-based **Studio** , view them in **Perspective** , **Vision** or any browser, and export, print or schedule them from the Gateway.

### Why we built it

Our customers kept asking for reports that look and feel like the web dashboards they use everywhere else: KPI cards, charts you can click to filter, slicers, dark themes, and a layout that works on screen as well as on paper. Reporting Plus is our take on that: a modern, interactive style of reporting that runs entirely inside Ignition.

### Building reports

- **Browser-based Studio:** drag-and-drop layout, live data preview, themes and templates. Open it from the Designer, the Gateway web UI or a browser.
- **Visuals:** KPI cards with sparklines, column/bar, line, area, combo, pie/donut, gauges, tables with conditional formatting, matrix/heatmap, scatter, treemap, funnel, waterfall, slicers, text, images and shapes
- **Interactive:** tooltips, click-to-cross-filter, slicers, parameters and auto refresh. They work the same way in the browser, Perspective and Vision.
- **Themes:** light, dark, print-friendly and a high-performance HMI theme, with per-report overrides

### Data

SQL queries with parameters, Named Queries, Tag History, current tag values, Python scripts, CSV and JSON/REST. Add calculated columns with an expression language.

### Output and delivery

- **Export** to PDF (vector, selectable text), Excel (one sheet per visual plus raw data), PNG, SVG, HTML and CSV
- **Print** from the browser, Perspective, Vision or the Studio, or send to a Gateway printer
- **Schedule** daily, weekly, monthly, every N minutes or with cron, each with its own time zone and parameter overrides. Deliver by email (using the Gateway's SMTP profiles), to a folder, to FTP/FTPS, or to a printer, and check the run history for each schedule.
- **Scripting:** `system.reportingplus.exportReport`, `printReport`, `runSchedule` and more from Gateway scripts

### Fits into Ignition

- Reports are **project resources** , so they come along with project exports, Gateway backups, inheritance and source control.
- **Perspective** and **Vision** Report Viewer components. Parameters bind live.
- Everything ships in **one module** : no external services, no headless browser, and nothing to install on clients.
- Schedules only run on the active node of a redundant pair.

### Trial and licensing

- It runs fully on the Ignition trial, with a watermark on reports and exports.

### Requirements

Ignition 8.3. Perspective and Vision are optional. You can view reports in a plain browser without either one.
