The project I am developing has multiple screens that use the same base query but filter it based upon a variable(s) specific to the screen (Used in the where statement).

I thought about using a dataset tag for the base query and then trying to run a query off the tag. This would greatly reduce the number of queries hitting the database connection.

I have looked at the lookup function but this only returns one object.

Is it possible to grab a subset of a dataset tag?

Yes, with the help of the Simulation Aids module, available [here](https://www.automation-pros.com/modulesales.html). You would use the [view()](https://www.automation-pros.com/simaids/doc/expression.view.html) expression function to reduce one dataset into another using its pseudo-SQL syntax.
