Hi all — I've built an Ignition RTSP module, that brings RTSP IP-camera streams into Perspective, and I'm putting out a **free version** for the community to try.

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/inductiveautomation/original/3X/4/a/4a44798ced1cedffa73c0fd558c330ddfe32efe3.png)

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/inductiveautomation/original/3X/c/7/c74baf32d07f7bdf56d8ee90b196ca41dfc721bd.jpeg)

**What it does**
Drop a component on a Perspective view, point it at your RTSP cameras (added server-side on the gateway), and you get a multi-camera grid you can click to expand.

**Example:**
`rtsp://<username>:<password>@<camera-ip>:554/<stream-path>`

Streams are proxied through the gateway (RTSP→HLS over the web port you already expose), so camera credentials stay server-side and browsers never talk to the cameras directly.

**Free tier — up to 6 feeds, no license key, no time limit.** Install the signed `.modl` and go. I made it free specifically so you can confirm it works with your own gateway and cameras before there's ever any spend.

**Where it fits**

- View security / CCTV cameras inside Perspective
- Spin up a quick custom camera view for a specific person or role
- Pull up the relevant camera when an alarm fires
- Put live plant-floor feeds next to your OEE / process data for context

**What it does:**

- **View-only** — it does not record or retain footage (keep your NVR/VMS for that)
- **HLS** (3-10s latency) Higher latency but easier load when multiple streams are needed.
- **WebRTC** (0-2s latency) Higher load but lower latency when multiple streams are needed.
- Self Signed Module

**Ignition 8.1:** [RTSP Viewer for Ignition 8.1](https://github.com/CVISupport/RTSP-Ignition-8.1) _(Still under testing)_

I'd genuinely appreciate feedback when it comes to which cameras it does or doesn't play nice with, feature requests, anything that breaks. (initial testing was primarily done with Ubiquity cameras)

Thanks for taking a look.

Note: Make sure to add the camera feeds in the gateway before launching the Designer for the camera feed names to auto show up as drop down choices when using the component.

Was looking at your GitHub and you mention that Maker edition doesn't allow 3rd party modules, but it does. Edge does not unless you get your module whitelisted by Inductive Automation. So not sure if it will work with Maker edition (did you allow it or block it on your end?), but I may give it a try at home tomorrow.

There's a gateway hook method that declares maker compatibility.

Ahh okay I didn't realize. I work with a licensed version and thought maker was just for IA module testing. I pushed out a new build just now with Maker being supported and updated the git page.

V1.0.5 should support Maker now.

Consider getting set up on the showcase so you can generate proper Ignition licenses.

I applied for the showcase thing, I wasn't sure how long it took and figured I could just switch over to it if I was approved.

You wrote "Ignition 8.x" here but the GitHub page specifies 8.3+. Is there an 8.1.x version of the module?

Sorry for the confusion, its designed for 8.3+

I can look into making a 8.1 compatible version. After I take a look at a few things I can post how long I think it will take me to modify it.

I'm guessing you guys are stuck on 8.1 for something?

Yes, we've been sticking with 8.1 until we're sure 8.3 and the 8.3 version of the modules we use are stable. We'll probably upgrade at the beginning of 2027.

Thank you.

So I spent some time going back and forth and adjusting stuff. I still need to test it some more but it looks like its working with minimal issues. Been testing at home. I can try to have it fully tested by the end of next week I'm thinking.

I tested this on Ignition Maker 8.1.54
