# Session event - Startup, set session custom parameter

Hello how can I set session custom parameter on startup ? It looks like it doesnt work

Don’t be fooled by the Designer - I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get hooked into the same Events as a true session. I know that Messages are not heard by the Designer, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we ignore Startup and Shutdown Events as well.

I tried what you just did and placed a simple Label to display the value and my session reported the value set during the Startup Event was indeed correctly applied.

Hi, thanks, I realized it worked, but I did some other mistake regarding session (lack of my knowledge about sessions). It would be great to have “Browse Properties” window also for Session events
