I'm working on the gold cert practice test, and I'm trying to test my alarm pipeline. I have my actual email in an operator role and an admin role. This pipeline should be actually sending me emails right? I have it set up to be the active pipeline in my pump alarms too

Why am I not getting emails?

From the screenshots, whenever the alarm goes active I would expect the "Operators" roster to receive an attempt at notification via the "Email" profile.

Do you have the Notification Blocks set to [test mode](https://www.docs.inductiveautomation.com/docs/8.1/ignition-modules/alarm-notification/alarm-notification-pipelines/pipeline-blocks/notification-block#email-settings) true? I would avoid dealing with real SMTP emails unless you are 100% that the SMTP connection is working and won't cause issues. Test mode prints out to the Gateway Webpage \> Status \> Logs page.

Make a simpler alarm (ie Boolean), and a simpler pipeline (no expression) with test mode if it still seems to be an issue.

I can see the alarms in the active pipelines in the alarm pipeline view. I wish I could set it up to actually email me, but they do seem to be executing.

If you don't have an SMTP server available , this is a tool we use in class to simulate the SMTP server end of notification examples:

> **[GitHub - ChangemakerStudios/Papercut-SMTP: Papercut SMTP -- The Simple Desktop Email Server](https://github.com/ChangemakerStudios/Papercut-SMTP)**
>
> Papercut SMTP -- The Simple Desktop Email Server

It works when installed on the server along with an Ignition Email Notification profile, with host "localhost" port "25" to use Papercut.
