# Style Class, Support for CSS Custom Properties

If we could assign/redefine custom properties in Style Classes, it would open up a whole range of cascade-based styling options.

Currently we can use custom properties in a style class, but there’s no way to define new ones.

In the meantime, you can just insert the other css props into an unused property with:

```auto
; other-prop: value

```

The first ; ends the prop you're entering it into

Yeah that does work, but I’m not interested in using that solution for anything “long term”. IMO it’s a bug that needs to be fixed. 🤷‍♂️
