Our company has upgraded to Windows 8 and now a certain project cannot be run. If the project is opened in Designer certain screens cause Designer to shut down when Designer is put into preview mode.

We are using Ignition 7.6.4
I have Java 1.8.0\_65 on my PC
Is this likely to be a Java version issue?
Other Window 8 Users are running the project as clients in Win 7 Compatibility mode but this does not cure my problems.

Yeah, the designer would likely be happier with Java 7. Way back when I was stuck on Ignition 7.2, it had to edited with Java 6. You could run clients with later, but editing was Java 6. Period. 😆

Also, I don’t know how you’re running it, but applets are pretty well a thing of the past in most browsers. Just putting that out there.

If you need to download Java 7, you can still get it here:

Java 7 cured it but only after changing the shortcut to run in compatibility mode, Windows 7.
Is Ignition not compatible with Windows 8 ? ![](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/inductiveautomation/original/1X/76d1620bec252bfac07050c889ff5a91dc8a9c25.gif "")

7.6.4 was released before Java 8, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you find incompatibilities.
