This thread never got updated, but newer releases contain a page.props.appBarVisible property, which allows for removing the AppBar Toggle on a per-page basis. You could consider using self.page.props.appbarVisible = False in View onStartup scripts.

EDIT: It originally wasn't meant to be removed but there's an update that lets you hide it now. The session property in question is session.appBar.togglePosition, as described in the post below the linked one.
