Im not following...waste what time? First, i didnt indicate that im making one off UDTs. But also, in regards to doing those without UDTs, how are you imbedding parameters into udt members with just a folder heirarchy? I have a motor UDT that has 10 standard faults. One parameter is the root ID of the motor. So all the fault alarm names are defined as {param} zero speed fault, as an example. I can multi instance or copy/paste 100 of those motor UDTs and change the params and have all my alarms created for me. I dont see that as being as easy using folder and tag heirarchies.
That's how I read your comment #17. Perhaps you should clarify.
Edit: The clarification resolves my concern/confusion.
Not sure how that was interpreted that way as I implied if those folder heirarchies were the SAME, a UDT could have represented them, instead of doing OPC drags of a PLC UDT , subsequently creating folders.
