Not sure how to reconfigure it, but you can drag the icon along the edge of the dock. It will maintain that position until you refresh the page.
There's also this in the HTML attributes of the dock toggle, which I'm sure could be modified somehow (but that's beyond my knowledge-level). The transform: translate() tag in the highlighted line controls the position of the toggle relative to its default position.:
