Writing to Red Lion PLC via Modbus

The address mapping tool provides sequential numbering for a given data type. I would expect the manual address to be [device]HRF7154 (give or take a few depending on the zero-based addressing setting).

is there any reason as to why FO77 would be at address 3577? It doesn’t seem as though FO10 is at 3510. Will I just have to add ranges of addresses on the Gateway and scroll until I find the tags I need?

You could keep guessing, or you could find some documentation or get support from Red Lion and have it explained.

It isn't. It is at the alias 3577 you created, not at the address 3577. Really, don't use the address mapping tool. Any time to refer to an alias you are going to confuse people who are trying to help you. That alias exists only in Ignition, not on the wire, and will not correspond with any troubleshooting information anywhere else.

Determine what your actual address is, that works with HRF. Talk to us about these actual addresses.

yea I’ve been trying to get support from RL with no luck. Just thought I’d float it here as well since people here are responsive and knowledgeable.

got it. the actual address is HRF7154. apologies for maybe obvious questions, I’m pretty new to Ignition and new to Red Lion and Modbus.

Edit: I deleted the browsable device from my project and I can now read FO10 at HRF7020. Thanks everyone
