Access to MicroLogix 1500

In the product release notes for 2010-08-13, Ignition v7.1.5, it is mentioned that MicroLogix 1500 plcs are supported. We have Ignition 7.1.6 (b5739), OPC-UA v1.1.6 (b5739) and OPC-UA AB drivers v1.1.6 (b5739) running. In setting up a new OPC-UA device there is no selection for a MicroLogix 1500. I also find no mention of the MicroLogix 1500 in the User Manual, also v1.1.6 (b5739). Is there something that is not installed or configured to allow me access to the MicroLogix 1500? What’s required to get to the tags?

You should be able to choose the MicroLogix 1100/1400 driver from the list and use that. I’ve made a note that we need to update the drivers that appear to either include or separate the 1100/1200/1400/1500 MicroLogix devices.

Worth nothing: 1200 and 1500 are not fully supported. Browsing is not available on these devices.

Thanks Kevin. Using the MicroLogix 1100/1400 worked. It would be good to incorporate your two posts into the release notes and the product user manual.

Will do.

I would try a MGate EIP3170, DF1 to EtherNet/IP gateway. Currently I am looking into doing this for a whole plant. Our local Moxa representative is going to give me a loner. I will be testing against SCL, micologix and PLC5 and the OPC-UA server using the AB Ethernet diver provided by Inductive Automation. If you’re interested in how that works out let me know. I have heard from other sources that this is a common approch.

I am interested in knowing whether it works against a PLC5.

Thanks

Dennis
