Is there any way to make the roles and who is assigned to roles editable from the gateway webpage and vision user management components?
I can do this with the internal database and active directory fine. But when I moved to database type the only way I can edit the roles etc are manually and not through ignition.

No, the point of the database user source is for you to create your own management tools with SQL, or rely on an external system.
