Address already in use: connect error on new pc

I recently upgraded my laptop and every since the upgrade, I get a Address already in use error while using the designer. I've looked in the forum and i found a bunch of posts about it but i can't figure out why this is happening. It happens so often that it makes it really frustrating to use the designer to do anything.

Error log attached.

Hi John_Williams,

Thanks for reaching out to the IA Forums. Can you be more specific when you said you upgraded your laptop? For example, was this an Operating System upgrade? I'd be interested in knowing what changes could have been made.

From what I can tell, it looks like something might be happening as the designer's tag browser tries getting tag provider data. If you are working on a development server, maybe try disabling your existing tag providers, creating a new one and see if you still run into the error. If things become too complicated, please feel free to reach out to support. We are more than happy to help!

Thanks. I had to do a lifecycle upgrade on my laptop which means i get a new laptop and i have to transfer all my data and programs to the new one. My old laptop was windows 10 but the new one is windows 11 and then this started happening. I opened the designer on the Ignition server and let it run for a few hours and it didn't have any of these connection issues so it has to be my new laptop.

The outgoing connection from the Designer to the Gateway is failing, because the Designer can't bind to an outgoing port. This typically indicates port exhaustion, which is pretty weird for outgoing ports on a laptop. You could try e.g. netstat to see what's using up outgoing ports.

Sorry for the delay. When I run netstat -a it shows around 750 connections. Is that too many? It shows around 500 of those are actually TCP 127.00.1:(various ports) to my computer name.

We have two different Ignition servers as well and I get this same error from both servers, so it has to be something on my new laptop causing it.

Something very strange is going on in your laptop's networking stack, is my best guess. I can't really fathom what, but maybe try OS upgrade/rollback/repair/etc as needed. Driver updates for your wireless card or whatever, etc. Throw all the things at the wall. About the only thing I can tell you with some confidence is that it's not an Ignition problem
