Has anyone used the Airlink LX40 for text messaging? Were you able to activate it, with your service provider, for just text messaging that is no mobile data? We are concerned about security so we don’t want it to have a public IP address.

The Airlink LX40 is officially supported in 8.0 and 8.1. Though it is not officially supported in 7.9 it should still work, there might just be some different configurations involved. Concerning the public IP, it may be worth testing with a reverse proxy setup on your network to expose the Airlink to the public and then see if you can successfully send text messages.
