Airlink vs. Twilio

I was wondering if anyone could give they're opinion on which one is better Airlink for SMS Alarm Notification or Twilio for SMS Alarm Notification.

Does someone have experience in both? From the looks of everything on my end it looks like Twilio is far easier set up than the airlink device and is easier to integrate using the Twilio module that ignition offers. You also don't have a piece of equipment you have to maintain or ever update. Is this in fact the case or am I missing something?

The company I work for wanted me to reach out to 3rd parties outside of our organization to get professional opinions before we move forward.

Thank you.

My apologies I didn't realize that wasn't aloud thank you for letting me know!

While Twilio used to be easier, now with 10DLC and providers having to crack down on spam, there's a whole application process you need to go through to get approved for an SMS enabled DID/number. You might search on here for recommendations on how to answer the questions in the application to help get past that hurdle.

I do wish Ignition had support for more providers (my provider of choice for VoIP is Flowroute which also has an API for messaging).

I haven't used an Airlink, but all you'd need with it is a SIM card. Because you're using a more retail service that SMS messaging is already enabled on, you wouldn't have to go through that process.

The airline solution isn’t great because of poor firmware on the modems, it’s easy to cause massive security holes with the instructions from the manufacturer. Twilio is good but suffers from a lot of big outages that take hours to get cleared.
