Alarm error about storing to Journal

I am using Alarms for a way to keep a history of machine faults. It works ok, but we just notice a lot of these errors in the log:

   E [a.J.Journal                   ] [21:04:22]: Attempted to store alarm information before journal system was initialized. Data will not be stored.

Can someone point me to what may be causing this?

Can I disable something so that it doesn’t try to Journal? I see nothing in the Alarm settings.
