Alarm System in Local Trial Version

I am developing an application in the trial version of ignition locally and I have a query tag that has an alarm set to it.

I noticed that the alarm activates and records around the current time when I open my application and the query returns the correct output for it to trigger.

My question is when using the alarm on a tag is it only active when the gateway is running locally. Is there a way to make the alarm active all the time?

The gateway MUST be running for tags to function (query, memory, OPC...etc.) and process alarms...and the trial cannot be expired. Purchasing a license or if this is for personal (non-commercial use), you could try Maker edition.
