Any suggestions for a good printer? That is easily integrated

Hey y’all

I am going to be sourcing 30 printers soon. Each one to have its own network address and run on TCP driver. The “Labels” are generated using the reporting module and could be any format that module outputs I suppose. They are very simple and just have standard code 39 barcodes and some text inside lines and whatnot.

Since we are getting so many, one of our biggest deciding factors is price. These will be in a pretty clean environment and print no more than a couple of dozen lables a day. They also need to be direct thermal.

I would like to send the print jobs using the java socket method or over Http post or whatever doesn’t matter.

I am considering a unit like this: https://www.barcodesinc.com/wasp/part-633808403591.htm

that is only $206

But, I am not sure that it needs to route through a computer or not? or can printer software run on server?
Could a guy go from the Serial port to an ethernet adapter and send the print jobs to that IP address?

Appreciate any help

So what are you guys using?

We are using those printers for some of our applications, we are using it connected to a PLC using an RTA Ethernet/IP to ASCII converter (https://www.rtautomation.com/product/435nbx/). We had an application where we used the Moxa NPORT 5100 series ethernet/serial converter to talk directly to the printer, but no longer used.

Now we’ve been pushed to use Printronix, it seems they got a good deal, we print a lot of labels, we are using the T600 series instead of the WASP, the T600 comes with ethernet option.

We are not printing thru IGN though.

Thanks for reply!

That is the cheapest printer I have seen with an internal LAN adapter!
