AWS lightsail vs EC2

I realize the official recommendations are to host ignition in an EC2 instance. I also realize that EC2 is much more flexible with many more professional level features. It seems lightsail is geared toward basic requirements like small websites.

However would it be completely inappropriate to install a smaller ignition system on a lightsail instance for reasons that I dont understand yet?

I have used lightsail and enjoy the predictable pricing. It is also very simple to set up, essentially zero learning curve.

As I recall the disadvantages I ran into were a lack of network control and limited backup options.

As I recall things like upgrading to a larger instance really screwed up the network, which then had to be fixed manually on the gateway.

The biggest issue I had is that it was impossible for me to move an image from my lightsail account to my customers lightsail account…so I had to rebuild everything. Honestly not sure if this is also a problem with EC2.
